New York Now Gift Show 2014

New York Now Gift Show 2014
I took the 7:30 train into NYC for the gift show. There are accessories, furniture, art, jewelry and many other stylish things to peruse. These pics are just a few of my favorites.
To sum it up I would say: lucite, gold, natural geodes and specialty dyed fabrics.
Oh! And feathers!!!
There were many art companies with different images of feathers. Johnathan Adler had knockout lucite and gold tables. I loved the geode tables and chandeliers. Raw yet elegant.
Since I was in NY I had to go to ABC Carpet and Home. Lovely tea,a whole floor where Deepok Chopra comes to gives lectures, dyed fabric on furniture.....not quite tye-dye,but an elegant dye process.
To end my day and give comfort to my tired feet...I needed something to eat and drink! So near ABC I came across Obica. Very New York casual but chic restaurant that specializes in mozzarella. So I pulled up a chair, ordered tasty bruschetta and a Bellini.
What more could a girl ask for? Beauty, Inspiration, cheese and a Bellini-the cute bartender was a nice addition too.

So I make my 'color files' based on my mood and what cool images I see. These images on Pinterest I compiled as a nod to a true comeback to gold. Gold is elegant, luxurious and magical.
We all need a little of that in our lives!
And from the movie The Outsiders.....'Stay golden Pony Boy,stay golden'

Did Someone say Turquoise?

Did someone say turquoise?
So I needed an inspiration. I typically find  it in a fabulous fabric. Something colorful ,unique and with character. I started with Kravet fabric for the pillows. There is brown,taupe,chartreuse,turquoise-so which one?
Turquoise of course.
My client is full of life, high energy and with a young family. Turquoise was a perfect pick. This color selection led to:
Paint: Sherwin Williams Mega Greige
Vanguard sofas: in Trovato and antique brass nailheads
C.R. Laine marcoux swivel chairs in a unique geometric pattern
Vanguard furniture amazing ottoman in Robert Allen fabric in bold turquoise
End tables:oiled rub bronze and mirrored top
Kravet fabric draperies
Turquoise & gold art
Amazing Visual Comfort chandelier
So Gunther the Golden-Doodle is an absolute doll. He looks so calm in this picture. With a flip of the switch for the fireplace, a carefully placed bone....the stage was set for our homeowners dog.
I love Hooker Furniture Sanctuary Collection. This is a perfect piece to fit a long wall and bring a touch of glamour.

Let there be light from High Point, N.C. Spring 2014

So there I am,first day at High Point Market and I already fall in love within 5 minutes of the show.
This chandelier has everything I love. Drama, turquoise, beading and iron. I know this isn't everyone's style, but I have a recent new found adoration for turquoise. One caveat, this chandelier is $3,000.00. It's not exactly in my budget. So when I return from the show, with fond memories of this light, months later I find myself in Home Goods. The lamp department calls my name and the love of my lighting life appears!
No,it wasn't Thom Felicia. I met him at High Point and I was like a gushing design nerd. He was great. He designs  fabric and furniture for Vanguard Furniture. I've used their furniture in most of my designs.
So, at Home Goods, before me I see

Only $89.00.  I think I can handle that. So these beauties came right home with me.
On my Turquoise tangent,I create my 'Color Files'. I take images from Pinterest and put them together by color, pattern, texture and symbols. This is the inspirational file I created.
Have a wonderful day!!!
